Fitness Academy incorporates a distinct focus on five core proficiency
areas, which are reading, writing, mathematics, science, and
citizenship, as well as daily fitness instruction. The Academy applies
a phonics-based approach to reading, and delivers instruction in an
extended school day from 8:00-4:00. This ensures that every classroom
teacher has a minimum of two hours of instructional time per day in both
reading and mathematics and that the students receive a minimum of an
hour and a half of fitness instruction in martial arts, soccer and
tennis every day.

Trotwood Preparatory and Fitness Academy is geared toward the education

combination with a phonics based reading program, Open Court, and a
well-researched math curriculum, Saxon Math. The developers of the
school believe that students should engage in an academically rich

demonstrating improved academic achievement for urban youth.
