Preparing Academic Leaders Academy (PALA) and their content-rich Paragon Curriculum converges high tech with the humanities, combining the rigors of a classical education with the relevance required by contemporary culture. Their interdisciplinary program instills in students a captivating conceptual understanding and chronological picture of history, as well as an awareness of the interrelationships between different domains of knowledge. Technology plays a vital role in cross-disciplinary study and project-based learning. The Academy equips each classroom with one computer for every three children.
The Academy implements two compatible curriculums that embody the vision of teaching and learning the school’s mission. The morning session of school is devoted to the Core Curriculum, with intensive uninterrupted study of Literature, Phonics, Spelling, SRA Mathematic, and Science Anytime. Math and Science are taught as discrete subjects. The afternoon session consists of the Paragon Curriculum, a Humanities Curriculum that covers the following: Social Studies; History; Philosophy; Science; Visual and Dramatic Arts; Communications; Foreign Language; Entrepreneurship; Character Development; Mathematics; Music; and Physical Education. These subjects are integrated in conceptual monthly themes organized around the chronological history of world culture.
