Opened 1999
It is the mission of Hope Academy
Broadway to provide innovative and sound educational programs, a safe
and nurturing environment, a curriculum that vigorously emphasizes
reading and mathematics, exemplary educators and state-of-the-art
technology, all of which will enable students to achieve and excel
academically.
In furtherance of that mission and
recognizing that no one educational model is right for everyone, the
vision of Hope Academy is to offer an alternative, tuition-free
educational opportunity for students, grades K-12, that focuses on
Language Arts, Mathematics and Civility for students who have not been
successful in a traditional public school setting and who have fallen
behind academically. Accordingly, within a safe, clean and caring
environment that is conducive to learning, the Academy places emphasis
on the basics of reading, language arts and mathematics. To supplement
certified classroom Teachers, the school provides Instructional Aids,
Family Advocates and state-of-the-art technology that includes computer
workstations and computerized curriculum pieces. Students with special
needs will have their needs met in an environment of compliance and
caring. Overall, the Academy provides instruction, assistance and
motivation for each student to become all he/she can be. The school
takes every measure to see that each student is prepared for the next
educational step in his/her life.
In addition to insuring academic
achievement, development of cognitive and interactive social skills is a
high priority so that students may contribute in a practical manner to
the global society. The school encourages and embraces diversity and
cultural differences, opening doors to family and community to be
involved in our education process. The school will measure its success
through achievement of its Academic and Non-Academic Goals.
Students
The Hope Academy Broadway offers
open-enrollment for all students in grades k-12. The school will
specifically target students whose experience in a traditional
educational institution have been less than satisfactory and/or happy,
as well as any students whose parents want to exercise their freedom of
choice. Many of these students are at-risk, functioning below grade
level, as well as below their statistical expectations. The
instructional program is designed to take all students where they are
and then move them ahead as far as they can attain.
