Position Summary: Working from our office in Cincinnati or Worthington, Ohio, the Special Education Teacher will “virtually” manage instructional programs for students with special needs. Position Summary Working out of their home, the Adjunct Teacher will “virtually” manage subject-specific instructional programs. Compensation will be based on the specific course workload and number of enrolled students. This teacher must be highly qualified according to federal and state NCLB requirements. He/she will be responsible for monitoring progress, evaluating work, running online instructional/tutorial sessions, providing academic guidance, and being the subject-matter expert for a caseload of middle/high school students. The teacher will use the phone, WebMail, asynchronous discussions and synchronous conferencing to instruct students and to consult with parents and students. The Adjunct Teachers’ duties include, but are not limited to:
General Responsibilities • Communicate with parents, students and other teachers via the phone, WebMail, asynchronous discussions and synchronous “conferencing”. • Instruct students, monitor student work, provide feedback, and suggest instructional approaches and strategies. • Monitor completion of assignments in the given subject area. • Score assessments and projects in the given subject area. • Communicate with homeroom teachers and guidance counselors; report student issues and coordinate communication schedules. • Conduct online tutorial and instructional sessions for students (utilizing online conferencing software). • Develop a very detailed knowledge of the curriculum for which responsible (subject expert). • Provide struggling students (and parents) with alternate strategies and additional assistance. • Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary: Working from our office in Cincinnati or Worthington, Ohio, certified Teachers will “virtually” manage instructional programs. Through use of the phone and Internet they will consult regularly with parents and students, and ensure that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program. The certified Teacher duties include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities: • Communicate with parents, students and other teachers on a regular basis to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules, score assessments, provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional approaches and strategies, monitor completion of assignments and coach special projects. • Work collaboratively with a team of teachers to ensure that all students on the team’s caseload are successfully progressing through the program that parents have a central point of contact, and that tasks are distributed evenly amongst the team members. • Develop a general knowledge of the entire program’s print-based K-11 curriculum and a very detailed knowledge of the grades for which responsible. • Support students and parents with alternate strategies and provide additional assistance with daily assignments and projects. • Communicate regularly with parents, students, and curriculum specialists through use of computer and telephone. • Keep student records and data up-to-date, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance accounting, and logging all student and parent contacts. • Consult with team members and staff learning specialists to develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications to students’ programs to increase student understanding. • Communicate with Parent Community Coordinators to suggest social activities and relevant field trips for students. • Manage regional field trips and make efforts to integrate trips into the curriculum. • Devise and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community”. • Participate in the organization and administration of the State Testing, as directed. • Participate in student recruiting sessions and other marketing efforts that require teacher representation. • Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding (working directly with students and parents). • Support the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions. • Evaluate tests and assessments, complete report cards and conduct parent conferences. • Work with Homeroom Teachers to ensure students and families are receiving appropriate communications, students are making adequate progress and established goals are being met. • Other duties as assigned. |

The Special Education Teacher will also participate in all steps of the IEP and SST (student support team) process, and work to ensure that the school’s special education programs are operating in compliance with federal and state regulations.
The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
• Manage and provide instructional guidance for a caseload of students (with and without special needs). • Develop, write and help implement IEPs. • Communicate regularly with parents of students with special needs to insure that their IEP goals are being met, and that their needs are addressed in a timely fashion. • Consult with teachers and coordinate the implementation of specially designed instruction as defined in the IEP regarding students with specific needs and potential learning issues. • As needed, provide direct services to students including services delivered through web-conferencing software. • As needed, schedule, organize and conduct IEP related meetings in a virtual environment. • Participate in the school’s Student Support Team; help teachers and Learning Coaches develop and implement program modifications and strategies. • Assist, as needed, with the organization and proper implementation of all paperwork, documentation and procedures for the IEP process. • Assist with locating service providers for students needing related services as mandated by their IEPs. • Assist with negotiating and executing contracts with service providers for students requiring such services. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in the schools’ Learning Management System and special education software. • Assist with administering state testing and coordinate the special adaptations that are required based on the IEP. • Other duties as assigned.
