Finding & Choosing a Charter School

Although every charter school complies with the district and state regulations, each school has a different point of focus. Charters can be focused on specialized curriculum, like the Arts, or they may serve special student populations, such as at-risk. It is important to diagnose what your child needs and then to research what schools focus on to fill the gaps in your child's education. Some simple steps to help you find a school include:

bulletUnderstanding what your child’s academic needs are
bulletTalking to other parents who have a child enrolled in a charter school
bulletLearning How to Evaluate a School
bulletVisiting Schools and talking first-hand with staff
